KSM-66 Ashwagandha Root Extract - 600 MG
KSM-66 ashwagandha root extract is produced from the roots of the winter cherry shrub. It has been used in ayurvedic medicine for decades, due to being linked to an extensive range of different health benefits.
It is said to be a body fat burner that is also capable of reducing stress, anxiety, and blood sugar levels, and boosting focus, memory, sleep, and brain and heart health and functions.
Its primary reason for being included in natural test boosters such as this though, is that it is believed to boost testosterone production, help you maintain testosterone levels, promote lean muscle building, and improve your strength and athletic performance.
While more study is needed to conclusively prove some of these claims, the evidence is certainly promising that KSM-66 ashwagandha root extract really can be of great use in a testosterone support supplement.
There is, however, an issue with how KSM-66 ashwagandha root extract is used here though, and that is the dosage. While 600 mg of ashwagandha root extract is indeed an optimal daily dosage, it is advised to split your intake into multiple doses of no more than 300 mg (1).
This means the single 600 mg dose used in Kaged Muscle Ferodrox will both put you at risk of experiencing side effects and prevent you from seeing the full benefits of its use at the same time. It'll still do some good, just not as much as it good and increases the likelihood of nausea.
LJ100 Eurycoma Longifolia Root Extract - 200 MG
LJ100 eurycoma longifolia root is sold as a powerful botanical extract that is sourced from flowering plants in the simaroubaceae family that are native to Indochina, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
It has long been used in various traditional Asian medicines, due to claims that it offers benefits like stress relief, treating headaches, high blood pressure, and pain, and improving recovery from a wound, disease, or health condition.
It has also started to become more popular in test booster supplements, due to claims that it can boost natural testosterone levels, libido, sex drive, and energy levels, treat erectile dysfunction, and enhance male sexual health (2).
Unfortunately, all of these claims are nothing more than hyperbole, as there have been no scientific studies to prove any of the claimed health benefits of eurycoma longifolia root extract. This means its presence in Kaged Muscle Ferodrox is highly likely to be of absolutely no use for maintaining testosterone levels.
PrimaVie Shilajit Fulvic Acid Complex - 200 MG
PrimaVie Shilajit is a patented form of a resin extracted from Himalayan rocks that is rich in minerals and a substance called fulvic acid. Long used in ayurvedic medicine, it is said to be able to improve your overall health and prevent the signs of aging.
In recent times, test boosters have also started to include it due to claims that it can help you maintain testosterone levels and build more lean muscle mass.
The problem is, very little clinical evidence has ever been produce that it can actually promote a favorable hormone balance or help with building muscle at all.
Perhaps worse still is the fact that even its supporters say at least 250 mg of fulvic acid is required each day to improve your natural testosterone production (3).
This unfortunately means that the 200 mg of PrimaVie shilajit fulvic acid complex present in Kaged Muscle Ferodrox is virtually guaranteed to be of no use at all.
Mircropure Diindolylmethane - 120 MG
Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a compound made up of the molecules indole and methane. It's found naturally in some green cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and kale, and it has been proven to help the human body keep its hormone levels within the normal healthy range.
As a potent anti aromatase modulator, it can interacts with the estrogen binding sites your system. This will stop your body from being capable of converting testosterone into estrogen, which will help to keep your estrogen levels low and sustain higher plasma levels of testosterone.
This testosterone support will enhance male sexual functions, health, and performance, and it even has been shown to be beneficial for building muscle and having antioxidant properties that help it to combat certain illnesses (4).
The issue is, the optimal daily dosage of DIM is said to be 200 mg per day. So, while the 120 mg present in each serving of Kaged Muscle Ferodrox may provide some mild testosterone support, it is unlikely to be significant and far from what you would experience if it had been properly dosed.
OptiZinc Zinc Monomethionine - 30 MG
Zinc monomethionine is a compound created by combining the essential mineral and brittle metal element zinc sulfate with the amino acid methionine.
Oral zinc is sometimes put in testosterone boosters as it can stimulate the pituitary gland and encourage it to increase the production of luteinizing hormone, which will boost total testosterone levels and its production in the process (5).
It can even offer additional benefits, such as improving your brain and immune health and functions, DNA synthesis, metabolic rate, rate of recovery, and vision, while also being able to help fight off viruses and reduce inflammation and the signs of aging.
Methionine is primarily used to reduce inflammation, prevent oxidative damage, prevent toxicity, boost metabolism, and protect the liver from damage and fat deposits, all of which is useful for people who are regularly working out and taking supplements (6).
However, the primary reason it is often combined with zinc is because it is said to convert the mineral into its most highly absorbable form.
The issue is, studies show that the optimal dose of zinc required to produce its beneficial effects is 45mg per day. With Kaged Muscle Ferodrox containing just 30 mg of zinc monomethionine, which is not pure zinc, it simply is not strong enough to produce the effects that the mineral is capable of providing.
BioPerine Black Pepper Extract - 10 MG
BioPerine black pepper extract is produced from the piper nigrum fruit. While it will not raise testosterone levels directly, it is often put in dietary supplements such as testosterone boosters as it contains an alkaloid called piperine, which is what gives pepper its pungent taste, heat, and smell.
The reason for its inclusion in a testosterone booster is because it is also a bioavailability enhancer, which means it is able to enhance absorption and improve the efficacy of all of the other patented ingredients in the supplement.
Unfortunately, like with virtually everything else in the formula, there is an issue with the dosage.
While 20 mg of piperine is required each day for it to be able to be effective, the only piperine supplement in Kaged Muscle Ferodrox weighs just half of this at 10 mg, which is highly unlikely to be of any use at all (7).
Whilst it's unliekly you'll experience any serious issues, taking 600mg of Ashwagandha and not splitting it through the day does substantially increase the likelihood of nausea. On top of that a lot of customers have reported headaches.
