We live in a society where cardiovascular diseases are the #1 cause of death. While there are many prescription drugs designed to lower blood pressure and help regulate healthy blood flow, they often come with strong side effects.   

That’s why we have started looking at holistic alternatives to deal with hypertension. Heart Sheild is a natural blood circulation supplement with 13 active ingredients. From the get go, we could see that they are using the right ingredients at the correct dosages. Whereas other blood pressure supplements look at the cost and create lackluster blends, Heart Sheild’s priority is to lower your blood pressure and help your circulation and vessel health.   

It includes 200mg of magnesium glycinate - top quality magnesium - which helps dilate blood vessels. The 4:1 beetroot extract is also key in vasodilation, as it increases nitric oxide production. On top of that, Heart Sheild adds key b vitamins that support blood pressure even in individuals with genetic mutations that make them more likely to suffer from high blood pressure. Garlic, olive and ginger relax your blood vessels and muscles around them improving blood flow, too.   

Even though the formula could be better by the addition of omega-3 fatty acids, this would mean that you would have to take over 6 capsules, so we understand why they have decided to not include it.   So does Heart Sheild work and should you take it if you are looking to lower your blood pressure? The answer is most definitely yes.

Heart Sheild Ingredients

As with any supplement the key is to analyze the ingredients carefully. We were really pleased to see that most of the ingredients are in doses used in clinical trials, so that we know they are effective. It’s a shame that there’s a proprietary blend hiding the exact quantities of Garlic Powder, Ginger Extract, Green Tea - but we can extrapolate that it’s likely that they meet the minimum effective dose.

Hibiscus (500mg): Acting as a natural ACE inhibitor and diuretic, hibiscus has been shown to lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure in several studies, making it a potent ingredient for heart health.

Olive Leaf (500mg): Olive leaf contains oleuropein, which studies have found to reduce blood pressure through mechanisms such as improved arterial elasticity and reduced inflammation. In a 2011 study, 500mg of olive leaf was proven enough to lower BP in patients with primary hypertension.

Vitamin C (250mg): This powerful antioxidant helps in reducing oxidative stress in the blood vessels, improving endothelial function crucial for blood flow. Studies have shown that Vitamin C supplementation can lower blood pressure in hypertensive individuals.

Magnesium Glycinate (200mg): Magnesium is essential for vascular health, aiding in the relaxation of blood vessels, which can decrease blood pressure levels. A meta-analysis has confirmed magnesium's effectiveness in lowering blood pressure. However, it’s true that the minimum recommended magnesium is 300mg, so the blend could benefit from having a little more.

Vitamin B6 (50mg): Vitamin B6 plays a role in reducing homocysteine levels, high levels of which are linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. While direct evidence on blood pressure is limited, its role in cardiovascular health is well-acknowledged.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) (1mg): Especially for individuals with certain genetic predispositions, B2 can significantly impact blood pressure management. Research has shown riboflavin's potential in lowering blood pressure in those with the MTHFR gene mutation.

Folate (2,500mcg): Folate or folic acid assists in lowering homocysteine levels, thereby reducing the risk of arterial damage and hypertension. Studies have demonstrated folate's efficacy in improving arterial function and lowering blood pressure.

4:1 Beetroot Extract (500mg): High in dietary nitrates, beetroot extract converts to nitric oxide in the body, promoting vasodilation and effectively lowering blood pressure. Clinical trials support its use for hypertension management.

Herbal Blend (650mg):

4:1 Garlic Powder: Garlic has been proven to have a significant impact on reducing blood pressure, attributed to its ability to increase nitric oxide production and promote vasodilation. Usually they use 600mg of normal garlic powder, so in the mix there should be at least 150mg of 4:1 powder, which is very likely.

4:1 Ginger Extract: Ginger is known for its vasodilatory properties, improving blood circulation. While specific studies on blood pressure are emerging, its broad cardiovascular benefits are recognized.

Green Tea: Rich in catechins, green tea can enhance endothelial function and promote vasodilation, contributing to lower blood pressure. Its antioxidant properties also support vascular health. The doses for green tea are not that well documented, so it could be a little low.

Hawthorn (160mg): Hawthorn is traditionally used for heart health, with research supporting its ability to improve coronary artery blood flow, reduce arterial stiffness, and aid in lowering blood pressure. Trials have proven that doses as low as 160mg are effective.

Coenzyme Q10 (30mg): CoQ10 has been shown to lower systolic blood pressure by improving heart health and energy production in cells. It's particularly beneficial for endothelial function.

Overall, this is a very well rounded formula that tackles cardiovascular health from multiple angles including blood flow, vessel health, vasodilation, nitric oxide production, endothelial function, anti-inflammatory effects, reducing oxidative stress, and lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

When looking for a supplement to help you lower your blood pressure you need to be careful. We’ve reviewed too many cheap Amazon blood pressure supplements that are highly inefficient and a waste of money. That’s why we are so impressed with Heart Sheild, and even if it’s a new product, we have no problem recommending it.   

The blend of herbs, vitamins and minerals it’s one of the most effective we’ve seen at lowering blood pressure. However, if you buy in bulk, which you probably should, considering that this is a supplement that you need to take daily, you can save up to 30%!
