What's wrong with the ENVY Night Time Fat Burner?
Our first glance at the ingredient list left us frowning with confusion. Instead of a list of effective ingredients backed up with well-proven research, we found it lacking in anything of quality that could help redeem this product. In fact, the only three ingredients on the list that has any credibility are green coffee bean, white kidney bean and vitamin D. While these ingredients may help maintain your weight, they are not proven to burn body fat, which makes us wonder why it is marketed as a fat burner?
We all know that to be an effective fat burner, a product needs to contain ingredients known to help curb your appetite and keep you feeling satiated between meals. This product has none of them. Plus, only taking one dose before bed at night will never help keep you feeling full throughout the day and evening. Even the vitamin D content is way too low to benefit significantly! Another bugbear of ours that makes us question the quality and effectiveness of a fat-burning product is when the manufacturer uses a proprietary blend. Using a proprietary blend is an easy way to disguise what is actually included and is a cheap way to mass-produce a product and pad it out to make it look more substantial than it actually is. Maybe it is the lack of high-quality, proven ingredients and the questionable proprietary blend that makes Envy Fat Burner one of the cheapest products in this category. As we all know, cheaper isn't always better! Does the low price reflect the quality of the ingredients? We think it does.
Envy Night Time Fat Burner Ingredients
In this night-time fat burner, you get 500mg of a proprietary blend. Let's take a look at what is included:
Green Coffee Bean (Unknown Dosage): This extract has been shown to slow down the conversion of carbohydrates into body fat. However, as we don't know how much is included, we cannot say how effective it is. Also, while it slows down the conversion of carbs to fat, it doesn't encourage your body to burn body fat for energy.
L-Theanine (Unknown Dosage): An amino acid that can help you get to sleep with greater ease but has no evidence of aiding fat-burning.
L-Tryptophan (Unknown Dosage): Another amino acid that can aid your sleep by helping with the creation of melatonin, your body's primary sleep hormone.
Melatonin (Unknown Dosage): An effective sleep aid when given at the correct dose, but again we have no idea how much melatonin is included in the proprietary blend, so we cannot prove its effectiveness.
Passionflower Extract (Unknown Dosage): A sleep aid ingredient with questionable supporting evidence.
Valerian Root Extract (Unknown Dosage): While Valarian is a common ingredient found in many over-the-counter herbal sleep aids, there is little to no science-backed evidence that it is effective.
White Kidney Bean (Unknown Dosage): White kidney bean is commonly used in fat-burning preparations, not because it helps your body burn fat, but because it can slow carbohydrate absorption and lowers insulin spikes. Keeping insulin low helps reduce body fat storage, but it doesn't encourage fat burning in the body.
It fails hard, missing out on ingredients that actually work, like glucomannan, 5htp, cayenne and a host more. The white kidney bean is really the only thing we’d have looked to include here. In reality, Envy is really just a sleep aid, and if it marketed itself as such, it would be fine.
We think it is trying too hard to be something that it is not. Why even bother to claim to be an effective fat-burning product if it contains no beneficial science-backed metabolism-boosting ingredients, appetite suppressants or thermogenic ingredients?
In an effective fat burner, we would at least expect to see ingredients such as cayenne pepper extracts, caffeine, chromium, and proven appetite suppressants such as glucomannan to help curb your appetite between meals.
It is in the fat-burning section where this product is severely lacking. In fact, the only two ingredients qualified to be in a health food supplement are the green coffee bean extract and the white kidney bean extract, but even these two ingredients don't encourage fat burning.
If anything, these two ingredients help reduce body fat formation by dulling your insulin response to carbohydrates.
