What Does Bloom Greens Taste Like?
Bloom Greens has a very earthy tastes, generally not a good tasting greens powder.
Bloom Greens Ingredients
Fiber Blend - 1,606 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens & Superfoods Fiber Blend has chicory root fructo-oligosaccharides, organic flax seed powder, and apple fruit powder.
Chicory root fructo-oligosaccharides are rich in inulin, a prebiotic that improves digestive health, gut health, nutrient absorption, and blood sugar and cholesterol levels, while easing constipation and reducing inflammation (1).
Organic flax seed powder contains alpha linoleic acid, which regulates blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, and combats health conditions like diabetes and metabolic syndrome (2).
Unfortunately, you must consume 2 grams of inulin and 15 grams of flax powder daily to enjoy these effects, each of which is more than the Greens and Superfoods Fiber Blend weighs in its entirety.
Apple fruit powder, meanwhile, is added due to its vitamin c content, but it's so low it offers no real benefit. This means the largest blend of the greens powder is essentially worthless.
Green Superfood Blend - 1,367 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens & Superfoods powder Green Superfood Blend contains organic barley grass powder, organic spirulina powder, organic wheat grass powder, organic alfalfa leaf powder, and organic chlorella powder.
Organic barley grass powder is full of fibre, vitamins, and minerals that enhance heart health, aid fat loss, and regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels if you consume 6 grams a day (3).
Organic spirulina powder is a natural, antioxidant-rich cyanobacteria that contains vitamins, fatty acids, minerals, and protein. Daily doses of 1 gram can stop free radicals causing oxidative damage, lower blood sugar and blood pressure, and enhance heart health (4).
Organic chlorella powder is a chlorophyte green algae rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Daily doses of 6 grams can boost energy more than sugar, enhance your blood sugar and cholesterol levels, fight diseases, detoxify the body, and improve your health (5).
The problem is, all of these ingredients are present in tiny doses and lumped in a Green Superfood Blend with useless ingredients like organic alfalfa leaf powder and organic wheatgrass powder, so won't be of any use in the Bloom Nutrition Greens powder.
Pre & Probiotic Blend - 648 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens and superfoods Pre & Probiotic Blend boasts blue agave inulin, Bifidobacterium bifidum, lactobacillus rhamnosus, and lactobacillus acidophilus.
Beyond the inulin that we've already examined, these are strains of bacteria that aid gut health and digestion, reduce blood pressure, combat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), improve brain functions, and slow mental decline in the elderly (6).
The selection of bacteria in Bloom Nutrition Greens & Superfoods is very small though, so is unlikely to produce these effects.
Pre and probiotics are also measured in CFU (colony forming units), not MG like they are here, so it is impossible to accurately gauge the quantity present.
Fruit And Vegetable Blend - 572 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens Fruit And Vegetable Blend features organic carrot root powder, beet root powder, kale leaf powder, blueberry fruit powder, spinach leaf powder, broccoli head powder, and ginger root extract.
Spinach and kale leaf powder come from leafy green vegetables rich in minerals, vitamins, and fibre. They provide health benefits like enhancing vision, regulating blood pressure and cholesterol, and treating or preventing anxiety, heart disease, oxidative damage, and stress (7).
Blueberry powder has anthocyanins and antioxidants that boost brain, heart and liver health and functions, aid nerve growth, and prevent inflammation and cognitive decline (8).
Beetroot powder contains minerals and vitamins which regulate cholesterol and blood pressure, improve vision, boost energy, stamina, and heart and immune health, protect your organs from damage, reduce inflammation, and prevent and treat diseases (9).
Ginger root extract boasts anti-inflammatories and antioxidants which prevent oxidative damage, regulate cholesterol, enhance immune and digestive health, and increase the bioavailability of the other ingredients in Bloom Greens & Superfoods (10).
The issue is the tiny doses used are unlikely to be useful, especially as they are mixed in with things which are not beneficial, such as broccoli head powder and organic carrot root powder.
Antioxidant Beauty Blend - 550 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens Antioxidant Beauty Blend uses cranberry fruit powder, acai berry, sour cherry fruit extract, strawberry fruit powder, raspberry fruit powder, European elder fruit powder, goji berry, horseradish tea leaf, grape seed extract, and matcha green tea leaf.
Berry and cherry powders all boast antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins, which can enhance bone, brain, eye, heart, skin, and gut health, regulate cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar, reduce inflammation, boost energy, immunity, and stamina, and aid weight loss (11).
Horseradish tea leaf, matcha green tea leaf, and grape seed extract are all antioxidants and anti-inflammatories.
They can detoxify the body, neutralise free radicals, combat diseases, burn fat and calories, boost brain and heart health, improve circulation and natural energy levels, and reduce inflammation and oestrogen synthesis (12)(13)(14).
Unfortunately, the Antioxidant Beauty Blend being so small means it can't possibly be useful, regardless of how effective its ingredients are.
Digestive Enzyme Blend - 150 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens and Superfoods supplement Digestive Enzyme Blend consists of the natural digestive enzymes amylase, amyloglucasidase, protease, acid protease, cellulase, and lipase, as well as maltodextrin.
Digestive enzymes aid digestive health by clearing the digestive tract, which boosts digestion and nutrient absorption (15).
The problem is, three of the main digestive enzymes are not present, those being lactase, maltase, and sucrase. This means the digestive enzymes that are used will have low efficacy.
Maltodextrin is an artificial sweetener that causes blood sugar spikes, which negatively impacts your health and further impairs the effect of the digestive enzymes, meaning the Digestive Enzymes blend may do more harm than good (16).
Adaptogenic Blend - 100 MG
Bloom Nutrition Greens & Superfoods Adaptogenic Blend includes American ginseng root powder, ashwagandha root powder, astragalus root powder, eleuthero root powder, licorice root extract, and rhodiola root powder.
Licorice root extract aids digestion but lowers testosterone and produces cortisol, so is more harm than beneficial (17). Rhodiola root powder may reduce fatigue and stress, but has limited evidence to support it (18).
Ginseng and ashwagandha root powders aid testosterone synthesis, boost fertility, sexual and cognitive functions, mental clarity, sleep, physical performance, mood and immunity, regulate blood sugar, and combat anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome, stress, diabetes, and fibromyalgia.
However, this only happens when taking daily doses of 250 mg, meaning the dose used here will have no effect (19)(20).
Astragalus root powder has anti-inflammatory properties that benefit your heart and liver, boost immunity and testosterone production, and lower cholesterol if you take daily doses of 30 mg, which is unfortunately more than is present here (21).
300 mg daily doses of eleuthero root enhance physical performance and prevent fatigue, again meaning this supplement uses a pointless dose of a beneficial ingredient (22).
Stevia Leaf Extract - 95 MG
Stevia leaf extract is a natural, low calorie sweetener, that's also an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It boosts brain, kidney, liver, and pancreas functions, but can also be toxic and cause infertility and other health issues (23).
