Obama Administration Issues Final Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity Rule for United States

The US Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and the Treasury have jointly issued a final rule increasing parity between mental health/substance use disorder benefits and medical/surgical benefits in group and individual health plans. See the latest EASNA Alert (sent to all members) issued on November 25 for details. It includes a link to a fact sheet with additional details. Last year EASNA created a new Advocacy Committee to address issues such as this rule. The committee held its first Canadian lobby day in 2012 and is working on its first US Lobby Day event, which will be held in 2014. Want to join the committee?
